Many soccer clubs sell and buy players every season. Soccer clubs analyze their performance from the previous season and determine where they need to reinforce. Soccer transfers are significant to the club and it is a great way to make a squad that a manager wants.
-Scouting-
The transfer market opens twice a season so soccer clubs must be very aware of searching for players. Back then, Soccer scouters always traveled across countries to search for players in person. However, nowadays, there are many ways to look for players online. The club will discuss which position they need to make changes to and sort out players that meet their needs. The list of players is usually from the scouters that search for players around the world. Scouters each have their standards for evaluating players and they will report their lists of players to the club.
-Inquire-
Now the club has sorted out some players, the club will ask the agents of the players if the players are interested in transferring and inquire to the clubs if they are open to selling their players. The club will ask about the cost of the transfer, how many years are left in the contract, how much salary the player wants, and other personal information about the player. This part is where the club decides whether to offer officially or not.
-Offer-
If the club decides to offer, they will send their first offer to the other club. The first offer is usually denied and the other club will let the club know what they want. Then, the club will send another offer and this process will go on until both clubs have reached an agreement. However, this is not the end. The club now has to convince the player to come to their club. It is the player's agent who negotiates with the club and some agents are very hard to convince. Some agents spread fake transfer news about their players to increase attention and make the deal more difficult. A player usually wants a high salary, a guarantee that he will be playing for the club, his preferred positions, and more.
-Medical Test, Work Permit-
After all the process is done, the player is now asked to take the medical test. A medical test can tell whether the player is healthy and ready to play. Most players pass the medical test easily, but there are exceptions and those exceptions make the club and the player in trouble. Not only the medical test, the work permit is another problem that needs to be faced. Since soccer players are paid to play for their clubs, they are considered workers, meaning that they need permission from the government of the country to play for their clubs. There are a variety of standards for getting a work permit for different countries.
Soccer clubs are always aware during transfer markets. If a club sells its GK, the club will need to buy another GK from the other club. The new GK is from another club, so the other club also needs to buy a GK. This is why lots of transfers happen during the transfer market as the clubs have to fix their squad every time. A good transfer will be a huge help to the club, but a poor transfer will impact the club in unpleasant ways.
