Soccer and money are very closely related in many ways. Soccer clubs make money and spend money to be successful. Soccer clubs make profits from their ticket selling, sponsorship, broadcasting, selling players, and competition winnings. For example, Manchester City gets a lot of profit from ticket sales as they have many fans, sponsorship from Etihad Airways, selling players like Sterling and Palmer, and winning the Premier League.
On the other hand, Manchester City is also a club that spends a lot of money. They spend money on traveling around countries, signing new players, paying their employees, and upgrading their stadium.
As we can see from this graph, Mancity has spent more money than any other club recently. With Sheikh Mansour's support, the owner of Mancity, Mancity could gain success in the Premier League and even win a treble in the 2022-23 season. Looking at Mancity, spending a lot of money would lead to a club's success but it is not always true. Liverpool, who spent the least money in the graph above, had won money trophies. That was because they used their money wisely. Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool's former manager, was given less money since Liverpool was facing hard times. However, even with the money given, Klopp bought cheap players with potential rather than buying superstars. Klopp bought players like Mane, Salah, Firmino, Van Dijk, Allison, Robertson, and more. Those players all improved under Klopp and became the best players in the league.
Nowadays, Soccer players are getting more expensive, and a lot of money would indeed be very helpful to achieve success. More money means that you would get more choices for buying players and having the players you want is the first step of winning a trophy. However, what matters the most is the way of spending money. Not only buying players, increasing stadium, and managing ticket sales are good examples of spending money that might be a failure but also can be a benefit at the same time.
In conclusion, Soccer and money are two factors that can never be separated. Spending money wisely would lead to achievement, but a club should always be careful about spending their money.
